We euphemistically refer to this school term as the "Spring" term. However, given that it covers January, February and March, and this year has...
I learned to play tennis at Halton when my Mum brought me down to the club when I was 5 years old. If it was competitive, I enjoyed it and tennis, hockey and running were my favourite sports growing up. I remember after the 10&U county closed competition receiving a letter inviting me to county training. I was part of the county set up from 10&U to 18&U, playing in the senior team from 15 years old.
After completing school I received a full tennis scholarship to Boise State, Idado USA, Div I where I graduated with a B.Sc. second class honours in Psychology. The college tennis experience was such a fantastic opportunity for me and I really discovered how much I loved playing in a team environment and it did spark my passion for coaching. Because of this in 2007 I set up USTS, a company that helps prospective students to secure scholarships at American universities.
I was originally going to coach at Halton for 6 months before heading back to the states to complete a Sports Psychology Masters. However I soon realised coaching was a vocation I was keen to stay in and I haven't stopped. My love of team competitions and doubles helped me captain the 12s, 14s and 18s Halton Girls teams to LTA team tennis national titles. I have also coached and travelled with players 12-18 years old to European and International junior tournaments. It is fantastic to see these players receive scholarships to UK/US universities, full time tennis careers, go into coaching or become successful in other professions. I enjoy coaching any age and stage at Halton, from ladies club tennis with doubles tactics to 5 year olds on the start of their journey. The goal is to help players become the best they can be.
I have stayed involved with county competitions and captain the girls 14/18s and ladies Bucks teams. I was fortunate enough to be part of the Senior County team when we won the National Grass Court Championships in 2013/2014.
Alongside my role at Halton, I am also the County Performance Officer for Bucks Tennis managing the county teams, county coaches, aspirantes program and the bucks junior awards. I am a qualified LTA Mentor and an Ambassador for the She Rallies initiative launched by Judy Murray with the aim to encourage more females into the game of tennis and coaching.
